Med Culture first regional conference on the theme of “Creativity and Culture for Development”
Med Culture has the pleasure to announce its first regional conference on the theme of “Creativity and Culture for Development”, taking place in Casablanca, Morocco from Monday 27 April to Wednesday 29 April, 2015; organised in cooperation with the European Union delegation to Morocco, and in partnership with the Association Racines; a civil society organisation promoting the development of cultural policies, creative industries and cultural cooperation in Morocco and in Africa.
The conference brings together representatives of ministries, cultural practitioners including emerging young professionals, academics, and representatives of the private sector in 8 south Mediterranean countries, as well as representatives of the EU and international organisations operating in the culture sector.
The purpose of this first regional conference is to mobilise the diverse stakeholders to invest in culture and work hand in hand for better governance of the sector towards the recognition of culture and creativity as human, social, and economic assets in south of the Mediterranean. Special attention will be given to the role of civil society actors in the creation of a better working environment –collaborations, sharing of information, and lobbying, etc. - to promote cultural and creative Industries.
Among the themes that will be tackled are creative opportunities in vocational training and lifelong learning, education, youth employability, case studies of cultural business models, creative dynamics and inclusion of peripheral areas as well as other topics that are of concern and/or interest to those involved in the sector.
