PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH COACHING AND FACILITATION

Wednesday, October 3, 2018 to Friday, October 5, 2018

OCT 3-5, 2018_Gamarth, Tunisia

WHY

Building on Med Culture experience over the last few years, we have come to understand that learning processes and opportunities are key for the professional development of cultural players and civil society operators working in development, empowering them to advance their career path in a fast changing world.

The workshop you are attending is about sharing with you useful tools and giving you the opportunity to reflect on your professional track. It has to do with thinking your way of working through new perspectives and taking into account your team, your partners and colleagues, and more broadly all the people you may interact with. It is also related to creating a safe space where you can exchange, reflect, confront your ideas and project with others in a free and constructive and way. Finally, it aims at introducing and exploring techniques such as graphic facilitation and its visual impact; and coaching and the power of self- reflection to discover new avenues.

The workshop will strive to unlock your potential and reshape your production and promotion of cultural and artistic projects, to allow you to play an essential role in the building of strong societies.

The workshop will contribute to building the community of practice Med Culture has initiated in the region, that gathers cultural operators, managers, academics and trainers, together with those working in related fields such as human rights, sustainable development and public policy making.

Last but not least, the workshop will provide you with tools to promote yourself as trainers and facilitators on the employment market, thereby contributing to give more visibility to this professional niche, which is vital for the thriving of the culture sector across the region.

WHAT

The workshop will explore:

  • Principles and practices of adult learning, starting with an exploration of how you learn best
  • Harnessing the power of a group: group learning, collective negotiating
  • Designing spaces for facilitation, within a team, for debates or with communities, including for large groups
  • Introducing graphic facilitation, uses and techniques
  • Discovering coaching, principles and application to develop one’s personal and professional path
  • Reflective practice, starting from your own experiences and elaborating new tools and methodologies

We will have the opportunity to explore all these areas together, revisiting your skills and enriching your knowledge, contributing to shift your habits and adopt fresh perspectives on your daily work.

HOW

We adopt a methodology that focusses on you at the centre of the learning process. Using different approaches, working in smaller/larger groups, adopting rigorous methodologies, we will strive to harness the power of the group, address all sorts of unexpected developments or request that may emerge, and put the fun back into working,. Sharing your own knowledge and expertise with your colleagues and the training team all through will be vital.

In other words, we will endeavour to be reactive and follow your pace and reflection, focusing on the process of your learning experience as we go along. Our motto is that all of us enjoy a collaborative learning experience!
