The present Country Profile is based on the report commissioned by Med Culture in 2014, and authored by Dounia Benslimane. The data published under this country profile reflect the independent views of the author.

Bio:

A General Practitioner in 2003, Dounia Benslimane has been advocating for culture and development since 2008. In 2011, she managed the Living Arts Foundation and became the coordinator of the Cultural Centre of Old Slaughterhouses in Casablanca. Member of the Arterial Network since 2009 and co-founder of the Racines association (French for “Roots”) in 2010, of which she has been the Executive Director since March 2013, Dounia Benslimane has also led numerous projects: She coordinated the organisation of the General State of Culture in Morocco, the implementation of the Artwatch Africa project for the monitoring of the freedom of creative expression in Africa, the launch of Afrifestnet (network of festivals in Africa), debates on the freedom of conscience in Morocco, etc. She obtained a European Diploma in Cultural Project Management from the Marcel Hicter association in Belgium in 2014.
