The 11th Sony World Photography Awards are calling for the best photographers across the globe – Call for Applications

Deadline YOUTH – 4 January 2018

Deadline OPEN – 4 January 2018

Deadline PROFESSIONAL – 11 January 2018

The Sony World Photography Awards celebrate their 11th anniversary this year, a decade-long partnership between Sony and the World Photography Organisation that aims to showcase the best photography in the world from the past year.

Free to enter and open to all photographers, the awards are an authoritative voice in the photographic industry, with the power to shape the careers of winning, shortlisted and commended photographers.

A total cash prize of $30,000 (USD) plus the latest Sony digital imaging equipment is shared between winning photographers. Photographers are taken on a year-long journey that will bring them unlimited exposure and provide a global stage on which to present their work.

Each Spring, the hugely popular Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition, featuring a selection of winning, shortlisted and commended images, is curated at the landmark Somerset House, London.

The competition is divided in four categories.

  • The PROFESSIONAL competition is open to all professional photographers, includes ten categories judged on a body of work;
  • The OPEN competition is also divided into ten categories and rewards the best single images (submissions to this competition are automatically entered into the National Awards based on nationality);
  • The YOUTH competition is open to all photographers aged 12-19 and features a single image responding to one topic;
  • Images must be taken between the 1st June 2017 – 5th December 2017 and as images may be digitally manipulated, applicants must provide details on how they have been altered.

Before applying, carefully read the detailed rules of the competition

The deadlines for applications are:
