Greenhouse's 2016-2017 Call for Applications for Documentary Filmmakers

Greenhouse has just launched an open call for applications to its documentary film development programme, targeting filmmakers from the Middle East and North Africa. Applicants must be citizens of one of the following countries Algeria, Iran, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, & United Arab Emirates

For the past 10 years, Greenhouse, a leading and prestigious documentary film programme, has been sustaining its critical role as a meeting point for regional filmmakers, creating a community of documentary filmmakers that are committed to dialogue and reconciliation. As a result, the programme has been supporting and promoting cultural exchanges between the participating countries, by underlining both common values and inherent cultural diversity.

Greenhouse has previously benefited from European Union funding through the regional EU-funded programme Euromed Audiovisual III during the period 2011-2015. 

Entry requirements

Seminars, workshops and tutorial sessions are held in English, so the participants must have basic knowledge in this language.

The selected filmmakers would have to participate in a full series of three seminars within a year.

The project submitted may be in any stage of development, including initial footage.

  • Applicant may act as a director-producer of a project.
  • The application should include:
  • Synopsis of 1 to 3 pages
  1. Director's statement
  2. Initial budget and financial support
  3. Applicants' CVs
  4. Two references from a professor or a professional (for each team)
  5. Previous cinematic work and/or initial footage/trailer of the submitted project (if applicable)
  6. Link to the internet. DVD won't be accepted.
  7. Applications must be submitted in English
  8. Applications must be sent in ONE WORD FILE which includes all requested documents mentioned above.
