SouthMed CV, one of the grant projects co-funded by the European Union under the Med Culture regional programme, has launched its second call for funding for innovative, creative and outstanding cultural and artistic projects from the Southern Mediterranean region, namely Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia.

Projects should focus on the role of art and culture in social, educational and environmental contexts, have an impact on public space, and strengthen the networking and capacity-building abilities of cultural operators in the Southern Mediterranean.

This call contains three lots:

Lot 1 is open to projects that contribute to strengthening the role of culture at the local, national and regional levels, in cooperation with other stakeholders in the public sphere.

Priority will be given to projects implemented as part of educational programmes, in a partnership between cultural organisations and educational institutions; projects fostering citizen participation and/or addressing issues of public interest; contemporary artworks that contribute to different ways of approaching the local environment and that are open to citizen participation; and forms of collaboration involving cultural actors and public or private organisations active in the public space, with an innovative approach and a strong potential for social development.

The maximum amount under Lot 1 is €45,000 per project.

Lot 2 is open to projects aiming to enhance the institutional and managerial capacities of cultural operators and artistic organisations, and promote their visibility and role in public space at the local, national and regional levels. 

Projects can contribute to the setting-up, improvement or dissemination of professional organisations, to the training of specialised trainers, facilitators or network-brokers in the cultural sector, or to the setting-up or strengthening of creative industry platforms or resource centres, and the impact of this on the social and economical sector. Projects linked to the design and implementation of new funding models for cultural and creative sectors are another priority.

The maximum amount under Lot 2 is €30,000 per project.

Lot 3 is open to projects that aim to strengthen the networking capacities of the cultural sector at the national and regional levels, in cooperation with other stakeholders.

Priority will be given to projects in the educational, social or environmental sectors being implemented within a sustainable and innovative networking partnership throughout the Southern Mediterranean region, and to specific activities developing long-term and sustainable programmes, including mobility in the region, peer-to-peer encounters of non-profit cultural organisations with other stakeholders, and cooperation within a partnership of at least three Southern Mediterranean countries.

The maximum amount under Lot 3 is €60,000 per project.

Please note that the project duration should range from nine to 12 months, and it should take place between 1 February 2017 and 31 January 2018.

Applications may be submitted in only one of the three lots and must involve at least three partners; the main applicant must be a non-profit organisation.
