Support for the production and completion of films
As part of the Fonds Images de la Francophonie, the OIF (Organisation internationale de la francophonie) is launching its call for film projects for 2016.
Several kinds of support are available:
- Production support for feature films – maximum €100,000;
- Assistance in the production of short and medium-length films – maximum €20,000;
- A grant for the completion of feature films (post-production, dubbing, subtitling) – maximum €15,000.
Short, medium-length and feature films (either fiction or documentary), primarily intended for a theatrical release, are eligible.
The projects must relate to films directed by citizens of French-speaking countries in the South (including Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia), comprising mostly Southern elements (themes, script and shooting locations) and using mainly technicians and/or artists from the South.
The Fonds Images de la Francophonie, which aims to foster the emergence and development of young talents, provides around 15 films a year, selected for their artistic potential and universal nature, with the ability to gain a foothold in domestic and international markets, and thus expand their audience.
Applications should be submitted by 29 February, 2016
The selection committee will meet during the first fortnight of June 2016.
The 2015 session granted its support to 20 films, including nine from southern Mediterranean countries, such as Les nains (lit. “The Dwarves”) by Moroccan director Hicham Lasri, Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania’s Haïr la vie (lit. “Hating Life”) and Les serviteurs (lit. “The Servants”) by Marwan Khneisser from Lebanon.
