Algeria_ EL MEDREB: Recherche autour des bâtiments abandonnés à Alger

“El Medreb” aims to investigate the social, architectural and historical context of the district of El Hamma in Algiers one of the biggest hubs of abandoned buildings there.  This project aims towards the recuperation of these abandoned places, as potential cultural spaces and urban commons.

Facts:

1. “El Medreb” responds to the abundance of neglected and unexploited architectural heritage that could create common spaces for social encounters
2. “El Medreb” works on the preservation of the collective memory by reaching out directly to the people who inhabit El Hamma
3. “El Medreb” project lasted 7 months
