15 MEDITERRANENAN CULTURAL ACTORS EQUIPPED TO FACILITATE A SERIES OF WORKSHOPS ACROSS TUNISIA

Thursday, July 12, Tunis: 15 professionals from Tunisia and the southern Mediterranean countries completed a four-day regional workshop in the framework of the “Laboratoires d’apprentissage et de partage” (Learning and Sharing Labs), a Tfanen project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the British Council on behalf of EUNIC as part of the bilateral programme dedicated to culture developement in Tunisia (PACT). This joint training which is organised and designed by Med Culture, a regional programme funded by the European Union, equipped professional facilitators operating in the culture sector to orchestrate a series of workshops across Tunisia in 2019.

Matteo Malvani, Team Leader of the Tfanen project: “In the framework of support activities for grant projects, the "labs" will contribute to consolidating and strengthening the skills of the various stakeholders of the cultural sector in Tunisia, from the public, private, and non-governmental sectors. Learning and sharing "labs" will thus serve as spaces of co-construction that can stimulate the transmission of know-how and ‘savoir-être’ through interactive and participatory activities. Partnership and cooperation practices among participants will be encouraged in order to support public-private partnerships for cultural projects”.

Fanny Bouquerel, Capacity Development Expert of the Med Culture Programme: “Our partnership with Tfanen capitalizes on the achievements of our four years programme in developing and promoting new methodologies and tools for cultural operators and practitioners of the region. And this training is yet another tailored edition of the advanced training sessions Med Culture has been designing and adapting to empower cultural operators and civil society actors in the south Mediterranenan countries in order to develop their projects more efficiently and effectively and to further their career path.”

Throughout the workshop, the 15 cultural professionals acquired skills in the field of facilitation, group dynamics, mobilisation of resources within a group and partnership building to support them in their future achievements.

Tunisian participant of this workshop: "As an Arab trainer and facilitator, I believe that we need to create a network or a platform in which professionally trained facilitators and trainers like us can exchange our knowledge, dicuss our challenges and continue our learning path, but most importantly, we need this platform to help us promote our expertise within the region and further develop our professional career."

Tfanen is a project designed to support the strengthening of the cultural sector, funded by the European Union within the framework of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs’ Program for Supporting the Strengthening of Tunisia's Cultural Sector (PACT).
